I was offered three corsets to review. They came very well packaged in individual plastic bags, enclosed in an outer plastic covering. This one was my least favourite.

I was a little uncertain of how I’d feel in one never having worn one, but having memories back in the seventies of my rather large mum stuffed into what looked like an uncomfortable garment she called her Roll On….that had suspenders and she’d have some stockings attached. Then again, I couldn’t see why men thought stockings were sexy, when all I could visualise was mums tubby pale thighs flowing over the tops of some stockings with runs in usually….Then when I bought some and saw they look very different when not laddered and on slimmer thighs I could see the difference!!

Sadly I’m now quite a bit larger and hoped this corset wouldn’t make me feel like mum’s looked back then…and it doesn’t. Its got a soft fabric inner with a kind of bonded latex outer. Its got lots of hooks, lots and lots, and I was convinced I’d feel like I was in a straightjacket ( entirely possible the family would say I should be!). However once I’d mastered doing it up – and that took a little time as I needed to pull in quite a lot – it was actually surprisingly comfortable. I could move about easily, and it was comfortable for sitting in, essential as I’m in a wheelchair ( but see comment re sweating). It really gave me a lot of waist shaping, and I think if I wear it often it could help train muscles as each time I was aware of it I was using my muscles to pull my stomach in and straighten my back. The description does say it helps with waist training and having worn it I feel that it could well work. One thing I did find was that as with the under-bust sleeveless corset it made me sweat – a lot! After a while that made me feel pretty uncomfortable, with my skin being very wet even though the inner layer does absorb much of it. The blurb does say that this “ allows toxins and impurities to exit the skin, while mobilizing fat cells”. I don’t know about the science behind that – I’m kind of sceptical but there does seem to be a number of reviews that state it does work so….I found it quite difficult to get on over the shoulders, it would have been much better for me in a larger size I think as once it was done up the shoulders really pulled down quite tightly. I’ve a short body too so that’s very unusual for me. It just felt as though the shoulder straps part needed to be longer.

On practicalities: It can be hand washed – as usual I didn’t read instructions and this was machine washed at 40 deg, and was fine. I’ve left it to air dry rather than tumble dry…melted latex, hmmnnn, good smell no? ( One of my kids once left a black wax crayon in his pocket and my new cream jodhpurs came out with lovely black patches. If I’d have ridden a piebald horse I’d blend in. ). I’d also advise fastening the hooks to avoid them catching on other clothes. Who hasn’t taken out a tangled mass when bra hooks catch on something, and given there are so many more hooks here….I’m a size 16-18 and ordered the size XXL as I didn’t want to feel constricted when sitting. I think I definitely needed a size larger in this one, especially as I have a very short body. Its very well made, with no loose seams or frayed stitching and looks likely to stand up well to repeated use. The top and bottom didn’t roll over when sitting but stayed in place. It was very comfortable to wear even over several hours. When I took it off after several hours there wasn’t any deep red marks or tenderness on the trunk part of my body, just a little pressure pinkness where the boning had pressed, and that soon went away but I had some fairly red pressure marks on my shoulders..

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
