Skipping Rope Starwood sports

review from Jeannie Zelos product reviews

Skipping is a fun way to keep fit, something we all did as kids but seem to have forgotten as adults. Athletes still use it though, and its a great and inexpensive way to build muscle and get an aerobic workout. Far cheaper than the Gym, can be done at home in a smallish space, and parents don’t need to find babysitters while exercising as with gym, swimming or biking.

This rope is 10ft long so suitable for the tallest of people. The makers recommend you simply trim to size and include a guide to finding the right length. I think that’s a shame though – its easy to adjust the length, with the metal screw fixing, and with the addition of some kind of plastic clip to hold secure the excess it would make this product suitable for all the family from small children to adults….and kids need to be encouraged to exercise too. This way it could be used for individuals or for kids playing the traditional skipping games with three or more people, when a long rope is essential.

The “rope” is actually cable. I thought it might not flow so easily as a conventional rope, but was wrong. It swings easily, and doesn’t kink or twist. I recall many welts from ropes when I was a kid especially when doing the three+ person skipping games. The handles are comfortable and easy to grip, and don’t slip when used for some time.

My grandchildren fell upon this with glee – old games are still the best, and they had fun using it at full length in a three person skipping game. One where a child holds both ends and the third one skips in and out – that’s good for allsorts of things. Exercise, hand eye co-ordination, teamwork – they need to work together to get the rope to swing cleanly. Its lightweight, so even the youngest at almost five had a go – he couldn’t coordinate the skipping but had fun in a jumping over and limbo under game. Of course mum and nan tired of it long before he did….and visitors that day were pleaded with to come and skip! Sometimes the simple old fashioned games really are best.

Its lightweight and easy to carry in the drawstring bag provided and great fun for kids and adults whether for exercise or just games. Its great value, and makes a great present for kids and adults.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
