[Julienne Peeler] E-PRANCE 3 in 1 Vegetable Peeler/Cutter/Slicer, Y-Shaped Stainless Steel

Review from Jeannie’s Product Reviews

This comes in a blister pack, but one that’s easy to open, not one of those where you take knife, scissors, teeth and need the contents of the first aid kit after you’ve finally got it apart. This is simply stapled at the top – hurrah!

I’ve had a couple of these before and find them far easier to use than a knife, especially if like me you have arthritic hands and fingers. They tend to be incredibly sharp so do take care to peel away from hands, not towards body when peeling smaller items and keep away from young kids. This makes very fine julienne shreds, and I prefer larger ones, but that’s personal preference. It’s also good for slicing onions very finely for salads and coleslaw, or potatoes or other fruit/veg to make crisps. Either deep fry them or bake in single layer in oven. When slicing onions and small veg I use a fork to hold the veg rather than shred my fingers 😉 it’s easy and safer that way!

I liked the grip of this, and loved the idea of the swivel head instead of changing blades, but in practice I found that though the blade “locks” into place with an audible click it slips out very easily if you press that little too hard. That’s dropped it to a three star from me as it was irritating keep clicking it back. Its easy to clean, simply rinse quickly and wash as normal or drop in the dishwasher. Sadly we don’t have one of those….

Juice Extractor, E-PRANCE Premium Manual Citrus Juicer, Stainless-Steel, Heavy Duty, Suitable for Juicing Orange Lemon and Other Hull-free Fruits (Silver)

Review from Jeannie’s Product Reviews

This arrived well packed, in bubble warp in a secure box. Its comfortably heavy and feels like it will last years.

Its my favourite gadget of the year I think, its so simple, so easy to use and clean. I’ve damaged joints in my hands and yet this was very simple, requiring very little pressure to obtain juice. I tried it with orange first and that was perfect, and then with apple. You could use plums too – ours have finished now but next year, along with raspberries and strawberries. We’ve had a great crop this year. I found that simply halving the apple didn’t work that well, I really then needed to quarter it and then it was easy, a little more pressure needed than for the orange, but apples are much firmer of course. The juice obtained though makes it worth it. Fresh juice is nothing like carton or bottled, but the juicers I’ve seen are both costly and a real pain to clean. They might create the juice very quickly but for most I’ve seen taking them apart and cleaning isn’t a quick process….Sometimes the old, manual and simple ways are best. when i was a kid we had a simple glass juicer where you pressed half a fruit and twisted. This is similar principle but easier as the long handles give better leverage and less mess and sticky fingers!

E-PRANCE Knife Sharpener with 3-Stage Sharpening System for Straight and Serrated Blades (Black)

Review from Jeannie’s Product Reviews

This arrived in it’s own sturdy cardboard box, with other items in a larger box.

I love sharp knives, more accidents actually caused with blunt ones as then people exert more pressure and if it does cut it cuts deep…plus of course a sharp blade makes a job ar easier. Potatoes I find soon blunt a knife so I’m always sharpening mine ( and making someone else peel them!!)

This has a three stage system and each setting is clearly labelled. As well as kitchen knives it can be used for scissors and pocket knives. The handle is very easy to grip and shaped to fit palm. I found it very comfortable. Then simply pull your knife through a few times whichever sharpener you need. Maybe your knife or scissors are just in need of honing a little, maybe you need all three sharpeners for a really neglected or blunt blade. Its easy to hear that its doing its work and if you wipe blade over with a little kitchen roll after use you’ll see tiny specks of metal dust, so you’ll know its working and you’re doing it right.

I keep mine in kitchen on worktop next to knife block. If you keep it in the back of the cupboard you’ll forget it, keep it out and touch up blades in a couple of seconds whenever you need to. Its very robust and should last years.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
