CurtzyTM Afghan Aluminium Crochet Hooks CurtzyTM Black Neon Alphabet Letter Cube Square Beads

My nan was an avid knitter and crocheter ( is that a word? Well, I’m sure you know what I mean) and taught me the very basics. Wasn’t something I really enjoyed though but now one of the grandkids wants to learn so these came in handy.

I hadn’t expected they’d be so big! A massive 14 inches long, but that means they’re always easy to find and I’m sure those doing more than basic chains and doubles will fund the extra length useful. They’re called Afghan Crochet hooks, and that’s a type that stays on the needle, I also have seen it referred to as Tunisian crochet, very useful for making clothes. You Tube has some great videos if you’re interested, and it expands the range of things you can make. I might have a look at some of those, I like new-to-me  techniques to try.

They come in a variety of sizes, each clearly labelled on the hook with a stopper to prevent stiches sliding off. They’re lightweight, but not so much that they’re uncomfortable. The wool or cotton used slides easily along the length ( I did a basic try for review purposes, have ordered some wool from Curtzy to try more). Visually I like the range of colours, doesn’t affect function of course but aesthetics are important too.

Its a useful, hardwearing set for a great price

CurtzyTM Black Neon Alphabet Letter Cube Square Beads for Jewellery Making Beading Crafts

These are fun for kids – not the tinies though as they are small, and though they’re great for little fingers, those always find their way to little mouths…..
They’d be great for kids learning to spell, for crafts and jewellery making. would make a great bracelet or necklace with a name threaded on or a short favourite message or phrase. Less permanent than a tattoo!! You could intersperse words with some pretty glass beads for a really decorative effect. Add on some leather strips, glass beads and fastenings for a fun gift.
I’m giving them to the youngest grandson, just had his fifth birthday and loves crafts but I’m guessing his sisters will be picking out some to thread onto thin leather for bracelets…..

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
