I think every home should have at least one of these, they really can save lives. In fact I’ve copied below some stats from fireservice.co.uk/safety/smoke-alarms that show you are twice as likely to die in a fire if you have no smoke alarm. We’ve now got three, one in upstairs hall, one in downstairs hall, and one in our living room where we have a wood-burner. Ideally you should have one in every room.

They all look very much the same, and this one has all the fittings needed to fix where wanted. It’s easy to do, just a couple of screws. It has an anti tamper slot too, where you can tuck in a plastic pin to stop anyone from undoing it. It only works when fitted to the backing plate so before you test it remember that.  What I really like is the ten year built in battery, its so annoying when the batteries get low and do that irritating little “chirp” sounds, usually at 2 am….. We tested this for sound and its loud, very loud as it needs to be. It’s as simple as pressing a button to test, and something that should be done regularly with all alarms. I like too that there’s a low battery warning, and a fault indicator. Our current ones don’t have that, and as I said they usually just go off beeping insistently in the early hours with no prior warning.,…and stupidly our upstairs one is set over the stairs – only my 6ft 3in brother can reach it safely. Think about that when siting yours. This does have advice over where best to site it too.

Smoke Alarm Advice

Every year the Fire and Rescue Service is called to over 600,000 fires which result in over 800 deaths and over 17,000 injuries.

About 50,000 (140 a day) of these are in the home and kill nearly 500 and injure over 11,000, many which could have been prevented if people had an early warning and were able to get out in time. In fact you are twice as likely to die in a house fire that has no smoke alarm than a house that does.

Buying a smoke alarm could help save your home and the lives of you and your family.

Arrived in secure packaging in a display box within a packing box.

This speaker is a durable design, being a square shape, with a triangle cut out in one corner for the wrist strap. Its a solid device, feeling like it would take some wear and tear as these inevitably get. I have the orange one and its attractive and small enough to take everywhere.

It connected seamlessly with my  LG spirit phone and found the speaker within seconds of searching, though I did have to charge it for a few minutes first. ( I’m impatient, I try everything out straightaway!) The range seems good. It also has a AUX input (cable also supplied) for connecting to non-Bluetooth devices which is useful for older devices. “Well sealed internal structure, waterproof drive and waterproof Mic ensure the perfect waterproof property. Great for outdoor activities. It is proved that it can be immerged into 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes, and still keep in good condition.” I didn’t actually test this, but that means no worries if you’re out and as usual in UK it rains…. I’m not an expert when it comes to music and tech but played back some REM on this via my phone and the sound was clear and seemed good.

It charges from a Micro USB port located under a plastic clasp next to the AUX input jack socket. The seal is quite tight, necessary for the waterproof function I guess, yet I was easily able to open it. I think you’d need to ensure its pressed firmly back after use to keep that tight seal. Its easy to handle, small and portable, sounds good, and is clear for calls – a great product. .

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
