Aiho Aglaia Glass Aromatherapy Essential Oils Diffuser Cool Mist Humidifier with Colour LEDX Auto Timer and Lack-Water Shutoff

This arrived very securely packed, great given its glass. The diffuser itself is packed in a shaped foam container within a rigid card box.  I’ve had several diffusers now for review and each one is slightly different, whether its shape, colour, water container size or battery/mains powered.

This one is the first glass one I’ve had and the opaque glass top certainly makes it look special as opposed to the usual plastic ones. I like those, I’ve had some great ones but this one just appeals to me on  an aesthetic level. It feels great to touch, looks good and performs very well.

When its on it changes colours through blues and purples, to greens and fascinates my four year old grandson. In fact all the kids love these and the fact that the mist isn’t hot, and just drifts slowly to dissipate in the air. The mister has two settings, either run constantly or on and off for 30 seconds cycle, and the colours can either be switched off, or locked to stay on one colour. At night the colours really come into their own and look so special.

As its winter and I have dry skin I tend to leave one running constantly during the day. The oils I use vary with my mood, and of course some are stronger than others. a current favourite is sweet orange, I use around ten drops, with clove bud – that’s pretty strong – and I use about four drops of that. You can use any combo though or just plain water if you don’t want fragrance. .

It automatically switches off once water container is empty. It’s pretty simple and easy to use , with clear instructions and its easy for me to undo – important given I have arthritis in my hands. Once the top is off then simply add water with the measuring cup supplied and a few drops of whatever oil you fancy. Tap water can be used, no special bottles or anything.  I’ve found with these its best to wipe out inside every few uses or an oil residue tends to accumulate.  Its  very quiet when running,

Stars: Five, a great looking device

This one is one of the few battery powered ones.

Its a built in rechargeable battery so you need to either be near a pc or a wall socket or you can use a battery bank as I’ve shown in the photos if you want to use it somewhere without power nearby. It does come with a wall socket adapter, which is unusual but very welcome. We’ve a few USB sockets for kindles and phones but not everyone has, some come complete with plug and cable in one,  and buying a separate adapter adds considerably to costs! The downside of this product is that the end for the diffuser isn’t a conventional mini USB end, but one that’s circular and fits in socket under the base as most diffuser types use. It means you can’t use a tablet/phone/kindle cable that’s just to hand instead…We tend to have a couple plugged in that get used for everything. You can see from the photos the end on the cable if my non tech description confuses you *blush*

In fact all the kids love these and the fact that the mist isn’t hot, and just drifts slowly to dissipate in the air. The mister has three settings, either run constantly or set for one or two hours, and the colours can either be switched off, or locked to stay on one colour. At night the colours really come into their own and look so special. Its got a larger than usual container, 150 ml to the normal 100 ml which is useful and means it’ll run several hours. The menthol ones are especially useful for winter colds and blocked noses.

The wide shape means its very stable, important if it’s next to your PC, and as its lightweight its easy to move around.

This resource site gives some really useful info on essential oils and diffusers. I've copied some of the relevant info here but the full site can be found at http://webessentialoils.com/the-best-essential-oil-diffusers-based-on-actual-reviews/

What are Essential Oils?
Made from the parts of plants, essential oils are typically distilled from the petals, leaves, or stems. Although technically not in the scientific category of “oil” because they are actually a concentrated hydrophobic liquid that comes from the “essence” of the plant. Essential oils give off the strong aroma of the plants they are made from, and they are often used for various natural health purposes. According to many aroma therapists and natural medical practitioners, essential oils can help with dozens (if not hundreds) of different ailments, symptoms, and injuries. Most essential oils are used topically, some can be taken orally, and almost all of them can be diffused into the air for the benefits of aromatherapy. Whether looking to relax with lavender or clear a stuffy nose with peppermint, diffusing essential oils can bring a plethora of benefits to mental and physical health. Essential oils have micro-molecules which make them easy for them to be absorbed by the skin or projected into the air.
Why Do I Need an Essential Oil Diffuser?
In order to get the most out of your essential oils, you’ll want to be able to diffuse them into the air so that you can breathe them in to absorb the benefits into your system. The benefits
of aromatherapy are many, including effects on the mental health as well as the physical and even the spiritual. Although scented candles have been the aromatherapy choice for many people, there are many reasons that this is not ideal based on concerns about toxins as well as the safety of an open flame around smaller children. A much more effective way to make your home smell good—and get the added health benefits of essential oils—is by using an essential oil diffuser.
Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser
Creating a fine mist which is diffused with water into tiny particles in the air, an ultrasonic diffuser is one of the most effective essential oil diffusers for the cost. This type of diffuser also provides humidifying effects because of the water particles that are emitted into the air with the essential oil. This is particularly beneficial in winter months when the air is dry and needs moisture. There are a variety of brands, colors, and style options to choose from in the category of Ultrasonic essential oil diffusers. Do be careful in making a purchase of an ultrasonic diffuser because many of them have lights and if you plan to use them at night then you’ll want to make sure that the lights can be turned off.
Many fans of ultrasonic diffusers find that they disperse negative ions in the air, which are believed to be healthful by reducing stress, increasing the flow of oxygen, increasing concentration, and even eliminating headaches.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
