Diffusers and De-humidifiers. Or putting water in the air and taking it out! Seems and ironic post this one :-)

I love diffusers, never had one till a few months ago, now I’m a convert, along with family and friends. There are so many sizes and shapes, from 100ml to a massive 2000ml, some mains operated others from batteries or USB connectors so there’s one to suit all homes. This one arrived well packed, in a display box, within a larger box with other items.

I use essential oils for fragrance, but you can use whatever you like, fragrance oils are chemical ones that smell like natural oils, but are artificially created and cheaper – I like the real stuff, less chemicals in the air the better. A friend uses a little zoflora disinfectant, another add a bit of her favourite perfume. This set comes with three oils included and having used oils from this supplier before I can vouch that they are excellent quality.  If you or family have colds this is great with some mint of eucalyptus oils to help breathing. You’ll find trial and error the right amount to use, some are stronger and 3-4 drops plenty but other need 8-12 drops. I like combinations, so I’ll add clove bud 2 drops and sweet orange, 6 drops, or lemongrass 2 drops and grapefruit 6. Its a matter of how big a space you’re in, how big the tank and how scented you want it to be.

These will automatically shut down if they runs out of water, so its stress free, no worries about it staying on while out of water.  Periodically its a good idea to wipe out the inside of the tank as the oils do start to coat it. The mist on these fascinates all the grandkids, its not hot like steam, just a cool mist that is great for rooms in winter when heating dries the air out so much. Its very quiet to use and portable so you can move from room to room.

Like most, it’s simple to use simple, lift off lid, add water and whatever you want to use for fragrance and close up. Switch on continuous or intermittent mist and that’s it. Its got an auto shut off when water runs out, so no worries about that. I’ve had lots for review now and hadn’t realised there were so many variations. this one has a “bamboo” design in that the outside is shaped to resemble a bamboo shoot. It has a cycle of colours, if wanted they can be locked to a single colour. they give a gentle glow, very relaxing and beautiful at night.

This one arrived well packed, in a display box, within a larger box with other items.

Like most, its simple to use, lift off lid, add water to tank with jug supplied and whatever you want to use for fragrance and close up. You can use plain tap water, no special stuff required. Switch on lights and mist and that’s it. Its got a one button control, and an auto shut off when water runs out, so no worries about that.

This one has a massive 800 ml tank, and is mains operated. The colour is a lovely soft blue, many are rotating colours, but this one is just the one colour. Its a personal choice of course which you prefer, but this is a very relaxing shade. As with all these the mist fascinates my grandkids, its not hot like steam, just a cool mist that is great for rooms in winter when heating dries the air out so much. Its very quiet to use and portable so you can move from room to room. The shape too makes it very stable for moving around. Some are very tall, but this one with its flattened, rounded shape is perfect for stability.

This one is one of the few battery powered ones I’ve seen (2 x AAA) although you also have the USB cable to use via PC a battery bank (as I’ve shown in the photos) When its on it rotates colours through blues and purples, to greens and at night the colours really come into their own and look so special It doesn’t use water to vapourise the oils, but a fan to gently disperse them over time into the room. It takes disposable pads to hold essential oil. The package comes with 2 extra pads for different scents of oil. The info says you can add mosquito repellent oils in to the diffuser that could be great of travelling to countries with a problem – or even here in the UK – we get them in the summer and they Love my taste 😦 I’m going to try this with some citronella and mint this summer when I’m relaxing in the hammock reading.

Currently I’ve got it in my bedroom with some lavender oil, to aid sleep, and of course to just smell good! The oils I use vary with my mood, and of course some are stronger than others but start with just a couple of drops till you get to know them. Another favourite is sweet orange with clove bud, which I use a lot in the water filled diffusers. You can use any combo though and this time of year the menthol ones are especially useful for winter colds and blocked noses.

Well, that putting air out, next one is drawing it in….for those damp rooms or cupboards everyone has

This arrived in a cardboard box, in its own display box so was well protected from damage. I’ve had one of these running for several weeks now in my unheated conservatory, 25 x 10 feet, which has washer and (condenser) dryer there and gets that dank feel in winter, and collects mould along the windowsills and struts. Its been taking an average of two pints a week out of the air and it feels so much better. The mould is also slower – if I got it cleaned off I could see if its stopped – but I haven’t got round to that yet. It’s very simple to use, literally just plug in, switch on at the front centre power button and wait. I leave on 24/7.

Its a compact unit, before having one I’d imagined they were much bigger. This size though means its easy to find a space for them on a table or worktop. When plugged in there’s a green light at the front to tell its working, and another to tell when its full. That’s good as its so quiet its hard to hear if its on or off. You could certainly have this running in a bedroom without disturbing sleep. My tiny battery alarm clock is louder….  Its got an auto cut-out when full, so no worries about it overflowing. The water container is easy to empty, just switch off, pull container out from back and empty. They use very little electricity, and that set again the potential mould damage is no contest!

As the one in conservatory has been such a sucess I’ve a cupboard upstairs next to an outside wall that gets damp sometimes ( leaves jamming the drainpipe usually!!) so I’ll try this there.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
