Swear Words Colouring Book: Hilarious (and Disturbing) Adult Colouring Books

Swear Words Colouring Book: Hilarious (and Disturbing) Adult Colouring Books

I’ve not actually seen this book “in the flesh” but it caught my eye when I was browsing and I thought what a fun gift for someone who needs cheering up. forget grapes when visiting a friend in hospital, make them laugh with this book and some coloured pens/pencils instead!

Adult colouring books have become quite a trend recently, ( I have one my daughter bought me and its kind of relaxing, just colouring in the pre-drawn lines, letting thoughts wander), so take advantage and give one that’s a bit different, that has some humour too.

Of course someone with sore throat/not allowed to speak could use them as flash cards too when feeling especially frustrated 😉 Think of the stress reliever that could be….i.e. Doc comes in, smiling smugly and pronounces in that way some of them have – “how are we feeling today then Jeannie? A wee bit sore perhaps?” and then patient could hold up relevant flash card, pretending to show what they’ve been doing, but really saying S**t or  F**k Off or something 😉

Wikipedia Day

Thanks to author Tracey Cooper Posy

http://www.tracycooperposey.com/blog

I discovered today that yesterday was Wikipedia Day

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Day
Ok, I’m late to the party but….who doesn’t use wiki for a quick check? Its a brilliant idea IMO, though still sneered at by many. I’m not entirely sure why that is, sure there are “facts” that maybe put up but haven’t been checked but that army of volunteers wiki has spawned are pretty hot on editing.

I’m a bit of an info magnet so I love Wiki, I know there are those (esp many academics) who look down on it but I can – and have – lost hours there. I love learning, love reading snippets and odd facts, always have. As a kid my mum used to say I was a mine of useless information, I was always quoting odd stats and facts….and that hasn’t left me. I’ll look up one thing on wiki, say a song title, which will lead me to an artist, then another, then collaborations, maybe a film where the song was sued..it goes like that and suddenly I’ve spent an hour just browsing.
I donated recently, only a fiver but I just love this site. In the early days it was a tad unreliable, with people adding facts without checking but its got an army now of people who love to spend their time checking and editing, just for the love of information, certain books, films, groups, countries, people, places….so its pretty much spot on when it comes to accuracy. Its still gets knocked as an unreliable source but I find its pretty good for the stuff I want to know.
I love that it isn’t “owned” as such but an idea put out and taken up by people, not fat cat companies who control everything. that’s a mark of real neutrality IMO, when no owned company gains by controlling info.
Yay for wiki day!

3D Pen Filament, DIKI 20 PCS 1.75 MM PLA

3D Pen Filament, DIKI 20 PCS 1.75 MM PLA Best Pure Filament for 3D Printer Pen, 3D Printing or Modeling Stereoscopic Rapid Prototyping no Peculiar Smell with Total of 20 Different Colors

Sadly the second 3D printer I had for review wasn’t working, must have got damaged in transit – it happens. I’m waiting to hear back from sellers, but I had one a few weeks back so got that out and had a play around.
These are really fun devices, quick to use but do need lots of practice before you make anything like those shown in images !!

These are made of PLA plastic. I looked up online the difference between PLA and ABS, not knowing anything about them – there’s lots of info but this summary from website protoparadigm is perfect:
ABS – Its strength, flexibility, machinability, and higher temperature resistance make it often a preferred plastic for engineers, and professional applications. The hot plastic smell deter some as does the plastics petroleum based origin. The additional requirement of a heated print bed means there are some printers simply incapable of printing ABS with any reliability.
PLA – The wide range of available colors and translucencies and glossy feel often attract those who print for display or small household uses. Many appreciate the plant based origins and prefer the semi-sweet smell over ABS. When properly cooled, PLA seems to have higher maximum printing speeds, lower layer heights, and sharper printed corners. Combining this with low warping on parts make it a popular plastic for home printers, hobbyists, and schools.

So how did they perform?
Well, they were easy to melt, I made a couple of little 3D pieces…simple shapes rather than anything specific. The colours are good and bright and the yellow and green I used kept their colour well. They didn’t have an unpleasant smell, having looked up info in the two types I think the ones that came with the pen were ABS as they had a horrible plastic smell, and this PLA type is far preferable – for me that’s a huge plus, and of course environmentally these win out too.
The coils didn’t tangle and were easy to recoil after use. they come in sealed bags, PLA does absorb moisture according to what I’ve read so after use try and reseal and keep in a dry atmosphere – maybe with some of those silica gel bags?

A good selection of colours, a product that’s useful and well priced and a great starter kids for hobbyists.

Stars: Five, fun and easy to use.

Info

1. What is 925 Sterling Silver?

Sterling Silver is a precious metal cherished throughout history for its beauty, durability and timelessness. Denoted by the standard 925, it refers to the 92.5% content of pure silver in the metal, the other 7.5% usually consists of other metals, like copper, which does not change the colour of silver but adds to its hardness. Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver and is typically too soft for jewellery and other silver goods because it can easily be bent, scratched or damaged. That’s why 925 sterling silver item is much more common and popular.

2. Rhodium Plated of Sterling Jewellery

Rhodium is silver-white in colour, resistant to tarnish and other forms of corrosion, even acids, and very shiny. It is used in jewellery primarily as a hard protective plating for sterling silver. It is applied as a thin coat through a process of electroplating.
While rhodium is reflective, silver is even shinier. As a result, sterling silver coated with rhodium will not be as bright and shiny as the underlying sterling piece would have been without plating — at least initially. However, over time silver can tarnish and get tiny scratches, but rhodium coating can minimize such problems. The effect is that as time goes on, rhodium plated sterling silver will continue to keep its fresh look longer.

3. Choosing Sterling Silver Jewellery

An ideal choice for jewellery, sterling silver is not only durable, robust and beautiful, but also naturally aseptic. For this reason people with sensitive ears or sensitive skin often choose sterling silver jewellery over other types of metals, especially in ear piercings, because of its purity.

Sterling silver is also one of the most affordable and versatile precious metals on the market. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings can all be fashioned into delicate shapes and intricate designs. Additionally, silver is a neutral hue that can be worn on a daily basis or any special occasions with any colours.

EleQueen 925 Sterling Silver Clear Cubic Zirconia Teardrop Bridal Dangle Earrings Rhodium Plated

A beautiful pair of earrings but I do think if giving as a gift the presentation lets them down.
They come in a pretty box, but inside is just the pink drawstring bag and some plain wadding which catches on the earrings and does nothing to enhance the look. Of course its the earring we really want but a little velvet padding over the wadding would have really made them stand out better.

Anyway, earrings: They’re in rhodium plated sterling silver, so should be fine for most people with metal allergies, and they are set on a simple post and stud fitting.
They’re shaped with an upturned teardrop crystal at the top, leading to a round one and then another teardrop, correctly positioned, which gives a lovely symmetrical effect. Each crystal is surrounded by tiny other ones, all of them being faceted, and they really catch the light. You can see in one of my images where I managed to catch them reflecting blue.
Its hard to show, but they really glitter and sparkle with lots of different colours. Despite their size they are quite light, and I think they’d be perfect for winter xmas and new year parties – though as a sparkle and glitter fan I’d wear them anytime, anywhere 😉

GRACE KARIN® Women Strapless Chiffon Long Ball Gown Evening Dress

Product Details

This is such a beautiful evening dress. A lovely unusual colour, and would be great for summer parties, shame they’re over, but will still be good for xmas and new year parties and stand out from all the black ones!

The fabric is a soft chiffon type, with a lovely folded over pleated top, sequins around the lower bodice, and a single layer skirt but with a double layered lining that goes right to the floor. Its a real “Cinderella” type ball gown!
Its very close to size, a little small maybe, I’m 16-18 and I’d say its better for the 14-16 size. Its long on Beth who’s 5ft 2 but as she is only size 8 that’s kind of understandable. On me and Tan its a good length so long as we wear heels and we’re 5ft 6.

The fabric is just gorgeous, a very mixed pattern of creams, greys, soft browns, blues and violets. Its sleeveless and the bodice is shaped so it really flatters.
The lining goes from bust right to the floor. There’s a little elastic back strap that helps support the bust and keep the top in place, that’s something I think is really useful. I’m always afraid of “wardrobe malfunction” and this will prevent that..
.
The lining is a double layer soft jersey type fabric, and that lets the soft chiffon over-layer hang beautifully. Its very well made, all seams neat and tidy, zip very well set in and unobtrusive.
The skirt has lots of fabric that drapes and billows out as you move and looks wonderful. Up from that is the section across rib area, which is set with vibrant blue sequins and studded with tiny blue beads, and then the bust area above is a pleated and layered designs that really flatters and shapes bust, giving plenty of support.

Stars: Five, it really is an elegant, traditional style ball gown, great for formal parties and events. It feels like the wearer should be picked up in a golden carriage, pulled with six snorting and prancing white horses!!

jasmine flower tea ball, Mermaid Tail Blanket, unusual bath “mat”

16 Handmade Blooming Jasmine Flower Hi Tea Flowering Green Tea Ball Home Wedding Favour

16 Handmade Blooming Jasmine Flower Hi Tea Flowering Green Tea Ball Home Wedding Favor

I’ve seen these advertised before and they look so pretty but I’ve never tried any. I’m not a great tea drinker, coffee mostly or ordinary PG tips type occasionally but sometimes I like a change and have enjoyed ones like ginger and lemongrass, nettle and blackberry and blackcurrant or similar.
I remember many years ago – about 50 – when stuff like this was considered “hippy” and only available from health food shops I tried some rose hip but put milk and sugar in it…eurghh…now I have them with a little sugar if needed but no milk 🙂

Well, I’ve not got a glass teapot and this needs to be fully appreciated so I used a glass cafetiere. Put the ball in, added boiling water and left. The ball gradually unfolds and is so pretty, its a real conversation piece. The tea tastes very delicate, I had to put sugar in as it seemed bitter to me without, but that’s taste and I have sugar in ordinary tea. I let it steep for about 5 mins but even after 15 or so it still wasn’t “stewed” tasting, but fresh and light.
Its something that would be special after a romantic meal, or with an afternoon tea treat. ( I tried violet tea out for a high tea with friends earlier this year. Decided I like to look and smell violets rather than drink them…)

Its 100% natural so no additives, and of course green tea is supposed to be very good for you.
I don’t think you’d want to drink this daily as its a little expensive for that but for a treat, for a special tea with friends, and as a gift its just perfect. of course you may feel you’re worth a daily treat and compared to a box of cigarettes these are so much cheaper and good for you. try this as a stress reliever instead.

They come individually wrapped in pretty red and gold cellophane parcels, so each one stays fresh. You could hang them as xmas decorations with a difference, use as home made cracker gifts, wedding or party favours, any special occasion.

Stars: Five, gorgeous to look at , delicate to drink and a real treat.

Yowao Mermaid Tail Blanket with Fish-scale Pattern – All Seasons Knitted Blanket, Sleeping Bag, 190x90cm (74.86″x35.46″) (Blue Lake)

This is great fun and perfect for snuggling on cold winter days. Not just for kids but for adults too.
Its so big that I tucked my feet ( foot!) in and it still reaches up to my neck. Roxy approves too – she soon snuggled her doggy body on it!
The “tail” section stops partway so you can spread the top section right round and really snuggle in. Beth and Bren tried it – room for them both there but Bren decided it was a bit girly…

Its made of polyester, feels like a very soft acrylic type wool, and its thicker than I thought it would be.
The scales are a nice touch, actually woven into the pattern and raised adding texture, and the tail is a kind of ribbed pattern.
I’ve seen lots of mermaid blankets recently, but not many feature this scales pattern and it just gives an extra touch and feeling of something a bit different from just a snuggly blanket. Snuggle in and dream of summer days on the beach.

It says hand wash, but as readers of my reviews know I hate doing that, life is far too short, so I’d put it in a cool wool wash or similar, and I’d probably hang over airer or radiator if the weather is not nice enough to hang outside. I might even put it in the dryer! I can’t see that would be an issue. Polyester is a tough fabric. Ultimately its your choice, whether you want to risk it shrinking or play safe 🙂

Stars: Five, a thick and fun extra cosy for winter days.

MOBIE Extra Long Non Slip Absorbent Diatomite Bath Mats & Rugs Mould & Mildew Resistant, Easy To Clean Hard Duckboard [Energy Class A+++]

MOBIE Extra Long Non Slip Absorbent Diatomite Bath Mats & Rugs Mold & Mildew Resistant, Easy To Clean Hard Duckboard

Well, bath mats are always useful, and when i saw this for review I didn’t read the full listing..just said yes please. So when this heavy, solid parcel arrived I was astonished. What could it be?
I wasn’t really wiser when I opened it til I saw the info included and realised This was my “bath mat”!!

Its incredible though, no more soggy smelly mats that get left on the floor, just put one of these down, step on and that’s it.
No slipping, its got great grip for feet and dries within minutes, no need to hang to dry, no need to run through washing machine.

Its perfect for bathrooms where anyone is like me a bit unsteady on their feet (foot!) and at risk of slipping on conventional mats.
Its great if you hate having soggy mats in the bathroom, they take ages to dry, need washing frequently and if they’re a bit damp when you get out of the shower as someone else has been there just before you, they feel horrible, all clammy and icky. This though is dry each time and feels kind of warmish to touch, room temp rather than a cold slab, and its so easy to clean.. Just rinse periodically under the tap and that’s it.
It does say you may need to lightly rub surface with a little glass-paper – and that’s supplied too – if it stops being quite so absorbent. I assume that because of grease/residue from skin maybe coats the surface? That’s simple enough to do though.

Though its for bathrooms, its useful by kitchen sinks if you don’t have a dishwasher and water gets spilled when you’re washing/drying plates etc.
I’ve got it under Roxy’s water bowl, it’s great for stopping the constant slops of water around it when she drinks. I then wheel through them and my wheelchair spreads it, plus the dirt from wheels over the floor.
Since I’ve put this down its been perfect.

Stars: Five, effective and practical mat

Morning Fun Men’s mirrored Driving Sunglasses, Polarized Glasses, Sports Eyewear ,Fishing, Golf ,Goggles 8177y

blue

These have found a home with son in law James who’s on the road much of the day. Summer sun makes travelling headachy if you’re not wearing sunglasses, but in fact they’re also useful in winter when the sun glares blindingly off snow and wet roads, especially as here in UK its so low in the winter.

They’re a good looking pair, and come in nine different colours/styles. We have the blue ones, and the blue is very intense, rich vivid colour. I really like the appearance – would have kept them for me but I wear glasses 😦

They’re comfortable to wear, really light weight which is important if you’re wearing them for long periods. They come in a soft body carry case which is good, so many pairs get ruined when tucked in a pocket and sat on….The nose section is very important, its an area where as a glasses wearer I know can get really irritated if its not right. these have a soft rubber attachments to the bridge meaning they’ll be more flexible and less likely to slop than with shiny hard plastic inserts. You can very gently adjust them but take care not to force it and snap them – I’ve done that with my glasses before.

There was a tiny tiny scratch on one cornet of the lens when they arrived. Its barely noticeable but looks like they’ve been set against something sharp. I think under normal conditions the scratch resistance would be fine. I have that on my glasses and its what it says, resistance, not a total prevention so you still need to treat them with care.

Info re positive/negative reviews

I get asked to review lots of products and I’ve seen suggestions that this compromises integrity of reviews. Well,  I take reviewing seriously – I rely on reviews when I’m buying and so want to extend that same help. Most products I’ve received have been excellent, but then I tend only to request things I’d like to use. Occasionally I’ve had issues and needed to contact suppliers – its inevitable that sometimes items get damaged in transit and then its how that’s dealt with that goes into my review, and I review replacement rather than the damaged item. I look at what I’d want to know – stitching and finish, how the product measures up to what it should be, how easy it is to use, if it looks as though it would damage easily – stuff like that. All requests get sent the same info as below where I make it very clear the review and stars depend on the product, not that its free/discounted.

I’d be happy to trial and review this product. I can order via code, or you can send direct to me at  : (address removed) .

I like to try a product several times before writing my review so it could take around two-three weeks from receipt of product and  though I aim for ten days max certain items can take longer. I always add to my reviews  Product supplied for review as per Amazon requirements.

I add images as appropriate but am unable to add videos due to slow rural internet banding. I’ll email you a link to my review when complete. I also have a newish blog for product reviews. https://jeanniesreviews.wordpress.com

Colouring books for kids and adults

Well, not a review as such because I’ve not seen these “in the flesh”, I was offered PDF’s of them but colouring isn’t really my thing. However for many people they’re an enjoyable and relaxing way to pass the time, a kind of mental meditation almost, so I thought its worth a link to these two books.  I do enjoy the patterns  these books have, a kind of repetitive, mandala type image. They remind me of the old Kaleidoscopes we had as kids – do they still exist? I love the wonderful ever changing patterns and the vibrant colors. this way you’ve your own choice, colour in soft pastels or vivid bright shades, and create your own unique image.

Tricks and fun

I’ve bought these before for the grandkids, and they love them. Him Indoors decided he wanted one so…
Off he went to the local pub and left it on the counter.
Enter barlady:
” Oh no, XX I can’t do that to you”
“what? what can’t you do?”
” its this pen…but, no..”
So she duly picked it up, flicked top and “Ouch! Ouch, Ouch, Ouch..”
Enter customer no 1: XX pushes pen towards him, he picks it up and “ouch! ” and they all snigger,
Customer two: “here look at this pen XX ” “what about it” as he picks it up and “ouch”. Then his wife comes in and he passes it to her. “what?” she says “nothings happening…Arghh, ow, ” cue lots more laughing.
then Landlady enters “oh, one of those joke pens.” She tells them how her daughter caught her out with the joke chewing gum ( I’ve not tried that!)
and absently picks it up and flicks it ” argghh, ow!”
Lots of fun for a small cost. Laughter is good for you.
I did think about giving one to granddaughter who’s always in trouble with a couple of teachers for stupid things, so she could get them but second thoughts – it wouldn’t help even if it did make her feel good.

Bought these for Him Indoors who loves a joke…he put one on the screen of a car in local pub belonging to one of the staff. she usually likes a joke but this worked a bit too well…she was quite angry until she finally took a closer look and realised it was just a joke, and she’d got “driving a dirty vehicle” – it’d been a running joke. You do have to make sure to choose carefully and only to people who like a joke. I’m tempted to pass a couple on to friend who’s married to a traffic warden, but given the abuse the poor man gets from giving legit tickets its probably not a good idea! .
