PowerLead Wifi 2.4GHZ UFO RC Aircraft Remote Control Drone RC Quadcopter Aerial Vehicle-Upgrade version

PowerLead Wifi 2.4GHZ UFO RC Aircraft Remote Control Drone RC Quadcopter Aerial Vehicle-Upgrade version

What I really liked about this drone is that it has a camera, and the kit has a card and USB card reader included.
So often items come without, and if you don’t have one handy you’ve to wait til you can buy one….can be frustrating, and with expensive items it just adds more onto the cost. Its a real bonus and very welcome when its included as it is here.
You will need four AAA batteries for the controller though, check you have them when you buy so you can order if needed. Then when it comes its ready to use.

Usually with tech items its the (very grown up) kids or the grandkids that do the testing, but they weren’t about for this so I tried.
Me and Tech don’t really mix and the first issue I had was how to get the battery in the drone. I turned it round, and over and just couldn’t see where it went. In despair I asked the sellers, who very promptly emailed back with a nice red arrow on an image showing me. Of course once pointed out it was obvious….oops. Great contact from sellers though, always good to hear.

So havening fixed that, tucked the SD card in the camera and batteries in the controller I read instructions, down-loaded the app to my phone, and went outside.
I’m a wheelchair user so couldn’t test too far as I wouldn’t be able to get it back. I’ve a huge garden but we’ve had so much rain the scooter won’t go over much of it.
It was pretty easy to work out how to use, and the app opened up easily, so if I was flying it high I could use the phone to work out best steering, not have to follow it almost out of sight.
I couldn’t work out how to work video or take images – my fault, lack of tech skills, not the device and now son number two has it he’s promised to send me some when he’s out with it.

I took it onto the patio, switched on, let it rise…and rise…and rise, before I worked out how to bring it down. It was about 20ft up, and over conservatory roof, and I was worried it would fall there and I’d be unable to get to it. Managed to bring it down, then crashed it from about 10 feet up onto the patio. The camera fell off but wasn’t damaged, and was easy to slot on again, and best of all the device wasn’t damaged.
With previous ones family have found that the blades and supports are quite fragile and easily damaged. This design is much more robust and less likely to break, though there’s a list of spare parts that can be ordered in the event something does.
I also crashed it onto a flower pot, where somehow a cane managed to catch in one of the parts where the propellers are, flicking it off. I thought it would break – it didn’t, and was easily clicked back on and running. There are spare propellers included with the device.

I think this is great value., more robust than others we’ve had and a good price. Son number two who has this now says they sell similar ones in the shop where he works for £500. He can’t see many differences to reflect the huge price variance.

NB: One things to be aware of is control, its easy to let it go further than you think ( my first play where it rose up 20ft or so very rapidly), and so keep it well away from roads, overhead wires and other peoples houses and gardens.
Don’t risk getting caught for invasions of people’s privacy, the camera is fun, but not for snooping in neighbours gardens or houses!!

Its a toy best suited to older, more responsible children and adults.

Bluetooth Earbuds, Double Walled Cafetiere

Bluetooth Sports Headphones, MengK Wireless Sport Headphones Magnetic Earbuds In-ear Stereo Earphones with Mic, Secure Fit for Gym, Running, Jogger(Bluetooth 4.1, Sweatproof, Noise Cancelling Headset)

These feel decent quality, not cheap and flimsy, and are attractive to look at, being a simple, neutral black. Bright ones suit some people, others want something like this, more discreet.
There’s nothing about water resistance though the description does describe them as suitable for running and riding, outdoor sports so I would imagine they are fine in light showers, though that’s not been tested.

I found these very comfortable, easy to wear and that they stayed in situ whilst using them. They don’t have those ear brace things many do – I find them a little odd and not very good, these are shaped to fit the ear which feels better to me though of course it does make them a little larger.
Personally I prefer over the head earphones but that doesn’t really work for outdoors, and I’ve noticed the grandkids all prefer these types when they’re on the go.
For sports and outdoor work these sort of ear buds are perfect, for example being able to use them whilst wearing ear defenders as they fit inside, and that’s good when doing monotonous work such as lawn mowing!!
If they do slide out when out running or biking, I’d clip the wire to something on clothes – just in case 🙂 They do have three pairs of spare soft silicon ear-buds (S/M/L)
They are very lightweight and the earpieces have magnets which quickly clip together so if you want to chat to someone its easy to slip them off and hang round neck ready to puck up ands use again. I’ve always thought magnets should be kept away from phones – not sure if that’s correct, but just in case don’t keep them in the same pocket or bag as your phone.

They’re easy to charge via the cable supplied, simply click open the plastic tag on the control section on the ear piece and attach the mini usb to the headset and the other end to pc or a phone/kindle charger.
Cable is supplied but not actual charger, very few do have those included though, and most of us have several kicking around from charging other devices, or you can charge via PC etc.
They have over charging protection built in which is useful. I usually charge my devices overnight so they are ready for the morning.
They have a decent battery life too, so should be fine for a full working day as far as phone calls go, but if you’re playing music you may want to recharge via adapter, or battery bank/car if you’re on the move.  “The polymer 70mAh battery supports approximately 5 hours play time with a 2 hours charging”.

I found them very easy to connect. I followed the instructions given and they quickly paired to my phone, LG Spirit. Poor phone has so many devices paired to it now I really need to rename them, so when I want to use one I know which it is….
Functionally the music is pretty clear, and it retrieves calls very well. I tried a couple of favourites ( REM, and some sixties and seventies assorted songs ) via my phone, and tried out the call function using another phone.
I prefer ones that have controls on the cord rather than earpiece but that’s a small matter and each person has their own preferences. Sound quality is the most important IMO and this is very good and clear.

X-Chef Double Walled Cafetiere – 8 Cup French Press Coffee Maker – “Unbreakable” 18/10 Stainless Steel Double-Wall Keep Warm Coffee & Espresso Filter- 1.0 L/34 oz

I love “real” coffee but living alone it seems a waste to get the cafetiere out when I only want one cup as by the time I’m ready for second it’ll be cold. My current one is a simple glass one, so as well as taking care not to break it just doesn’t keep coffee hot.

So I was keen to put this into action. Made my coffee at about 7.45 am and it was lovely. Went back at 11.15 for cup number two ( I got a bit engrossed and left it longer than intended…) and it was still drinkable at 46 degrees C.
That’s down to the twin wall construction which makes it act like a flask. that also keeps the outside cool too so avoiding burns when you forget its hot and pick it up….The lid has an angled section, twist open to pour, twist back to close and keep heat in.

Its a simple device, put in ground coffee, add boiling water, sit lid on leaving plunger up for a few mins, then press down and pour out. If the plunger doesn’t go down easily give it a little longer. Fresh coffee just when you need it.

The stainless steel construction means its sturdy, no worries over breaking and its very easy to clean.
Its a sensible size too at one litre, so when the family are round we can all have coffee without having to do it in stages.
You can use it for teas too, and other things, plant infusions ect. add some fresh or fried herbs, some root ginger or lemon peel and water, let it brew then plunge and pour same as for coffee.

What I’m impressed with too is the two year warranty. Its always good to find a supplier that stands behind the quality of their goods.

LED Landscape Projector, Wireless Sport Headphones

Aoso M21 Wireless Sport Headphones Magnetic Earbuds Sweatproof Bluetooth 4.1 Earphones Stereo In-Ear Headphones with Mic & APT-X, for Gym Running Exercising Biking Calling Phones – Black

These feel decent quality, not cheap and flimsy, and are attractive to look at, being a simple, neutral black. Bright ones suit some people, others want something like this, more discreet. The description describes them as sweat proof and durable, so I would imagine they are fine in light showers, though that’s not been tested.

I found these very comfortable, easy to wear and that they stayed in situ whilst using them. The ear brace thing took some working out though. If they keep sliding out when out running or biking, I’d clip the wire to something on clothes – just in case 🙂

I found them very easy to connect. I followed the instructions given and they quickly paired to my phone, LG Spirit.
You can have them paired to two phones which is useful.
They’re easy to charge via the cable supplied, simply click open the plastic tag on the control section on the neck cords and attach the mini usb to the headset and the other end to pc or a phone/kindle charger.

I like that the controls are on the neck cord rather than the ear bud, I find it difficult to get the right bit when they’re on ear section, this way is so much simpler!
They’ve  a magnet function to pause/interrupt calls and music, I’m not entirely certain of the purpose, but is does mean they clip together round neck if you want to take them off. I’ve always thought magnets should be kept away from phones – not sure if that’s correct, but just in case don’t keep them in the same pocket or bag.
They have a decent battery life too, so should be fine for a full working day.

LED Landscape Projector, Homecube Moving Solar Lighting Waterproof Garden Tree and Wall Spotlight Motion Decoration Christmas Party, Holiday Lighting with USB Controller,Red+Green

I love solar lights, got loads of them round the garden now so was interested to see this, something a bit different.

Both light and solar panel have stakes to fix in the ground, and there’s a decent cable length so you can find the best place to catch sunlight. There’s also a USB charging option, useful in winter/xmas when daylight it limited.
I’ve noticed recently with the rainy days and lack of sun that my solar lights haven’t lasted long each night. If you want it to light up the house or garden at xmas that function could come in very useful. The solar panel is a very large one so should catch plenty of light.

It covers a large area, depending on how far back from where you want it to show it is. It can be left as constant on or flashing. The images shown online are a little misleading, they show in in blues and violets but its not, its just red and green. You could try taping some clear coloured cellophane over the front of the lamp if you want different colours maybe – Quality Street or Roses wrappers!!
The lights are very bright and clear, and can cover a large area and those colours are very apt for Christmas, though I like lights anytime! Its so easy to set up, attach the stakes, poke into the ground where you want them and switch on. I did find one of the stakes wasn’t very close fit and wobbled but that’s easily remedied or you can screw the device to a wall.

Stars: Five, fun for xmas

handbag, messenger bag and evening bag

Aretha 141021 Signature Stub Italy Genuine Cowhide Leather Shoulder Tote Bag

Product Details

Well, this is a good looking bag, roomy enough for purse, phone, keys tissues and all the rest of the detritus that accumulates in most ladies handbags ( Guilty!!) and yet well made so it will stay looking good. I really like these bags and one I had earlier for review has become my main bag to use, that one has an added shoulder strap – my preferred way of carrying a bag. this one can be hooked over the shoulder which is fine for most people but I need my arms to push my wheelchair and bags don’t stay up then so I need the additional strap.

It comes in its own protective fabric bag, and that makes it look great as a gift. Its genuine leather – the other bag I had from this company had a weird smell at first but that went after a couple of weeks, thankfully this one doesn’t have any unpleasant aroma. It comes in three colours and I’ve the brown, which is a lovely rich van dyke kind of colour. It’s fully lined and has gold plated hardware, which is great for preventing tarnish, and contrast stitching.

The outside is a close grained leather and the inside is fully lined in brown – I don’t know if its brown or a different colour in the red and black bags, with good strong zips and easy to grip tags.
The handles are padded and large enough to fit over should so bag tucks under the arm.
Inside the interior is very roomy and well thought out, with two zipped compartments and two open pockets for phone and keys.

The pockets are on one side of the bag, with a small zipped section the other and then the main compartment is divided by a large, full length zipped pocket. Plenty of room for everything.
Design wise it has a V shaped section in the sides which allow it to be larger at the base, and makes room for all the “stuff” we find essential to carry…..phone, keys, purse, pens, tissues, hand wash, throat sweets or similar, lipstick or lip slave, painkillers, notepad or paper, nail; file and/or scissors, penknife and for me my beloved Kindle. That goes everywhere.
You can see why I need a large bag! Every now and then I junk and pare down what I need but then it gradually creeps back.

I would like to have seen studs on the base to prevent scuffing – they’re on the other bag I had and are really useful.

I’ve still got an old Radley leather bag bought maybe 20 years ago, and I see no reason why this one won’t last as well if properly looked after. Leather is such a forgiving material, and looked after can last years. A little scuffing only improves the look IMO – makes it that Vintage appearance!
I use a little leather dressing from time to time on mine after wiping off any dirt. If it gets wet simply allow to dry naturally, away from heat and it’ll be fine.

Stars: Five, perfect bag for work and leisure

Messenger Satchel bag for men and women,Vintage canvas real leather 14-inch Laptop Briefcase for everyday use 13″(L)x10.5″(H) x 4.1″(W)(Green) WowBox
Product Details

I really like the look and feel of this bag. Its a very retro feel, and the leather is incredibly soft when often on new bags its stiff and difficult to use. Back in the 70’s I had a leather satchel for school, the old two compartment, two buckle one and it took years to soften. I had it for the five years of high school, and wish I’d kept it but I was a bit sick of it then….

This bag is a heavy canvas and strong leather construction and the latches are magnetic, which is really useful in winter when fingers are freezing and struggling with zips and buckles can be awkward. The magnets are pretty strong too  so flaps won’t blow open easily.
There’s a strong carrying handle, with reinforced fixings, which is very comfortable to hold, and also a thick, wide canvas shoulder strap for carrying across chest, my preference for safety.
There are several pockets on the outside and inside, with some pockets being open, some are zippered, and some have magnetic closures.
The large main inside compartment will hold a small laptop computer or tablets and is fastened with Velcro and lightly padded for extra protection.
The front has two front pockets with the magnetic closers, and a zip pocket, handy for phone, keys and cash.
There are further inside pockets besides the laptop/tablet one, two medium size and two small ones perfect for pens and pencils.

Its a great all round, practical bag which should last well. I’d maybe add a little waterproofing on the canvas, and some leather dressing to keep the leather lovely and supple whatever the weather. Looked after it’ll last years, and with this sort of bag a little wear just adds to the vintage look and in my opinion improves it 😉

Stars: Five, great for school, college, uni or less formal workplaces.

Emour Nina Silver Crystal Diamond Evening Clutch Wedding Purse Party Prom Bag Box

Product Details

This bag comes  comes in a really smart red box, lined with tissue making for a perfect gift.
It’s in a choice of either gold or silver trim and I’ve the silver version.
I’ve recently done  reviews for several 1920’s style sequin and beaded dresses and this would work perfectly with it. I love it. Well, with my magpie all-things-sparkly-are-good quirk I would! My late friend Barbara used to call it my Bet Lynch tendencies.

Its got a beautiful diamante covered outer, with the crystals being in direct lines creating a very symmetrical, slightly formal  look and making it perfect to finish  the Art Deco look. Nan had a couple of bags like this from the 20s –30s.

Its fully lined, with a handy little pocket inside for items such as a card, a key or maybe a lipstick, easy to get at. Its got a simple clip top to open and close, also decorated with more crystals.
It can be used as a clutch but also has two chains included which clip on to convert to a handbag or a shoulder bag. I like those, keep hands free and I usually wear across my chest, though of course it could be hung from one shoulder.

Stars: Five, just gorgeous, great for cocktail evenings or xmas parties. and a terrific price.

Attractive backpack and a new gel nails dryer

YUHAN® Professional Portable SUN9S 24W LED UV Gel Lamp Nail Dryer,-Lumcrissy Auto Sensing Curing for Acrylic Gelish Shellac, LED UV Nail Gel with LCD Display, and Upgraded with Timer Setting,Nail Art, Painting, Salon Tools, compatible with Fingernail & Toenail [Support USB Charging Sun Light Technology More Safer than Traditional UV Nail Art Dryer] (White)

I discovered the world of gel nails last year when asked to review one of these. Never had mine done in a salon, but love nail varnish. Sadly I rarely used it as I found it chipped after just a day or so, I’m not a careful person.
Gel nails though are strong, and last ages and I’m addicted to them 🙂 I find with a base and top coat and two coats of colour they can easily last 10-14 days on hands, longer on feet.

Up to now I thought the last dryer was my favourite, it let me get my whole hand in (You’ll see in pics my rings turned upside down. I never remember to take them off and have no idea how UV affects the stones so I turn them round – will look it up one day !)
This dryer though is by far the best. Its roomy and so easy to use, just plug in and tuck hands under and the sensor picks them up, starts dryer and displays time in the top.

I don’t know about the difference in ultra violet banding, but I did notice that it dries far better and quicker. With my old lamp the gel stayed tacky between layers and the final coat was softish and I needed to be careful for a couple of hours after using. Not doing things like gardening, or rubbing hands dry on a towel- that sort of thing, not just normal use. With this the gel seems far harder much quicker – though as usual I still managed to smudge the corners on two fingers, but that could have been before they were placed in dryer – I just didn’t notice.
It seemed very quick, I gave base coats 30 seconds, colour 90 and top coat 90. To be honest timing is still something I’m working out, different sites say different times, but I’d rather go for a few seconds longer and be sure.

I was looking for an on switch, did try pressing the display etc til I realised you need to place your hand fully in for the sensor to pick up, not just finger tips. I like that I can get my whole hand in and not have to do thumbs separately, its when things take too long I get impatient and ruin the effect.
I’ve usually got my kindle on the go while I’m doing nails so its easier to be patient that way than if I was just waiting, doing nothing.

I don’t foresee any issues, but as always if there are I’ll update this review. I’m currently very pleased with how my nails look, and how the device performs an d its become my preferred choice dryer now.

Vintage Fashion Canvas Backpacks School Bags Casual Daypacks Laptop Backpack for High School Black

I really like the look of this backpack, with its patterned detailing. It comes in three different colour choices and is a roomy, attractive and practical bag.

As always with canvas its a good idea to use a waterproofing treatment on it if you’re going to be using it in wet weather. Its a pretty dense weave canvas, and does have what looks like a water resistant interior but extra always helps and wet canvas is heavy! Though its classed as a school bag its suitable for any age and a very attractive change from some of the more mundane ones around. Easier to find yours too if its in a pile with others.

Its a decent size and the interior opens out to fit lots in. I’ve friends who use backpacks instead of handbags and they’re always ready for impromptu purchases that way!
Its got two outer pockets for drinks ect, a large zipped outer compartment and the roomy interior which has padded section for electricals plus others for pens, books, phone and keys etc.
It has a carry handle or adjustable shoulder straps. Both the shoulder straps and the actual back of the bag are padded and have mesh helping to avoid sweating and making it comfortable to carry even when full of books etc.
The fabric feels very strong, that water resistant looking interiors will be useful if it is – I’ll try that out sometime –and the stitching and zips look pretty robust and up to some rough treatment – we all know how schoolbags especially get thrown around and dropped rather than careful treatment 😉

I really like the look of this bag, it marries practicality with an attractive appearance. The contrast fabric really lifts the design, and I’m sure this will soon be claimed by one of the family.

Stars: Five, an attractive and roomy bag.

Food containers and a pop up tent/cabana

Food Storage Containers,Bellaware Extra Large Plastic Airtight Food Storage Containers, with 4 Small Containers, Set of 5 (Rectangular)

This set comes in three choices, I’ve the one large and four smaller equal size combo but you can also have a stacking size combo in square or rectangular.

They’re pretty simple, snap lock containers in food grade plastic, useable in freezer or microwave ( but Not conventional ovens!) and dishwasher safe- poor me- I don’t have one of these but they clean easily by hand. They are guaranteed leak-proof, very essential when you’re travelling. I’ve tried that and its correct. the rubber seal inside seems to stop any leakage.

I’m using a couple of the smaller ones for raw meat in freezer right now having stuck a sticky label on so I know what’s in them.
They’re also useful for leftovers in fridge, for keeping raw meat apart from other items ( essential for food safety and to avoid poisoning) Use the big one to keep bread fresh, or to store cakes and biscuits ( not together…doesn’t do either any favours) and the small ones for different fruits and veg, to make salads such as pasta and rice for lunches, for sandwiches for kids to take to school.
They’re easy to open, just flick up sides and easy to close in the same way.
For people such as me with hand issues its perfect, usual ones mean trying to prise up a corner and I just cant do it.
Having had similar ones in past I know the seals last ages, but do take care to ensure that part washed well if you’re washing by hand.

They are expensive – that’s all I’m going to say about price. I’ve seen cheaper ones, whether they are as good, last as long I don’t know.
Ultimately its your choice, bearing in mind my nan’s old adage of “cheap always comes dear in the end” – she died in 1960 though, and cheap has taken on a new concept since then, and it is possible to get bargains, but equally possible to do what she warned against, buy cheap, find it doesn’t last and end up spending more than if you’d bought decent stuff in the first place.
Nan would have one quality item, mum went on the quantity rather than quality motto. Having grown up with both I find I side with nan, have less but have quality.

Stars: Five, perfect air and liquid tight containers.
Multicolor Automatic Pop Up Beach Tent- UV 50+ Protection Portable Outdoor Tent,Kids Play Tent,Sun Shelter For Outdoor and Indoor Use- Fits up to 2 Adults + Kids+ Free Shoes Bags

This is great for the beach, its very light and easy to carry, and it comes in a circular, zipped bag, same washable fabric as the tent. Comes in five colours so if the kids all want their own, no confusion.

This has some UV protection on the fabric ( description says Special silver coated fabric around the full coverage to ensure that the coverage area of Anti-UV effects.50+) which is useful especially if you’ve babies or toddlers. Their skin is so delicate and vulnerable. I’d still slather them in a high factor cream though and use this as additional protection not instead of creams and lotions. The whole of the interior is coated in this silver covering.
It has four metal pegs to help secure it in the ground. Being lightweight means it will blow away easily if its a breezy day, but the pegs will hopefully hold it. The mesh section at the back helps too, by letting air through and that also  helps keep inside cooler. Given its larger than others I’ve had though and they are so lightweight I think six, or even 8 pegs would be better. Others have pockets for sandbags too which helps keep the tent stable. We’ve some pretty fierce winds on the beach at times and these are little extras that can make  a huge difference. I’ve taken a star off as I do think this large size needs more. You can of course put some beach stones in but a little though first would make that necessary.

The real fun is the way it assembles, just take it out of the zipped pouch and it does just what it says, pop up. Stand well back though, especially younger children and its very quick! Putting it away takes a bit of practice but if you keep in mind it kind of folds into a figure 8 then over, then it takes just seconds to fold and zip back in back.

It is so light and easy to carry that it means its so easy to take it with you on a beach trip, on a picnic, a trip to the woods so for younger kids you’ve an instant play tent.
Its a great place for snacks too, a clean floor to sit on, no dirt to get in sandwiches, fruit or cakes, and helps prevent flies and wasps getting in. They’re quite scary for young kids when they buzz round food so this is a great bonus, especially if you put a trap such as a pot of sugar water outside to divert them.
If you’ve toddlers and babies it gives a shady place for them to nap too.

Youngest grandson Brennan will love this on the beach, he loves being there but has very sensitive skin, often has patches of eczema that gets irritated by the sand, so at least he can rinse it off and sit inside while eating or to rest his skin for a while.
Of course its a great play tent in the garden, or inside if you’ve the space. We’ve three pop up tents now (four with this one) and the grandkids love to get them all out and play houses, shops, vets etc giving them each a specific designation. Then when its time top pack away five minutes and everything’s done!

Stars: Four, great fun for kids and practical for the beach, extra attention to securing and this would be a five.

men’s shearling boots and two dog harness and lead sets

Viihahn Men’s High-top Lace-up Fully Wool Lined Genuine Leather Upper Shearling Lining Winter Snow Boots

Product Details

These are a very attractive pair of boots and I’m really impressed, but as other reviewers have said they are small for size.

Grandson wears an 8 and son in law an 8.5 so I ordered 8.5 thinking it would fit one of them ok. Sadly though they are too small for son in law and only just fit grandson. I really should have ordered a size larger. they are quite narrow too, both of them have narrow feet but bear that in mind if you don’t.

They have a good rubber sole, with grips at the bottom and quite thick and springy making them comfortable for long periods. The thickness should keep out some of the cold in snow, when it penetrates shoes with thin soles.

They are incredibly soft and flexible, with the lining being really warm and thick. I suppose with time that will flatten but sheepskin being a natural fibre its great not only for warmth but for absorbing sweat and keeping feet dry. In the cold wet feet are really uncomfortable.

I’d treat these with a waterproof dressing for shoes to help add more protection.

They lace up and come right up over ankles, and should keep the whole foot snug. They’re not wellies, not Dms and in wet slushy snow, the same as most boots, they’ll let in water but in crisp dry snow, cold icy days they will be perfect.

Get a size larger than you think and you could wear them all day long.

I just wish I’d gone for larger size ( or smaller so I could wear them – well one anyway…the other would join my trove of un-used shoes….)

Adahome Pet Adjustable Harness And Leash Set Matching Collar & Lead Available Separately 002

My daughter’s dog Flash was the testers for this harness. Details are: male, lab x springer spaniel,  7 years old fully grown, neck 44cm, chest 79cm, length 72cm, weight 26kg.
He usually wears a collar as its been difficult to find a harness thats fits well, and in just a collar he tends to pull. This harness was a great fit, strong and tough, and lots of adjustment for size. Roxy has had a harness for a while, she’s younger and more boisterous and walks with her are hard. In a harness though its so much better, so we’re hoping for the same with Flash. Whether its just that the chest pressure confuses her or makes it hard to pull I don’t know but with a small tug she’s back walking at the side.

This smart harness comes in three sizes and four colours. Its made of a soft nylon rope webbing and nicely padded.
It took me a while to find EVA online and see what it is, but its the soft rubber insde to the harness which makes it comfortable for the dog, and wipes clean too! You can wash the whole thing, but just wiping over inner with a damp cloth will keep it fresh between washes.
It feels as though it will dry very quickly, useful if caught out in the rain when the smell of wet dog can last in a slow to dry collar such as the cotton or leather types.

The fit is very adjustable and Flash has the Large size, surprisingly fits him well at the smaller end of adjustment. He usually struggles to fit a size L, but there’s loads of room in this, and in fact when we put it on him as it came, pre adjustment it slipped straight off when Brennan “took” him for a walk for photos….
It’ll fit much larger dogs and is very thick and robust for those that need the extra strength. He also had another from the same sellers, in size L but that’s much smaller and he needed it on highest size setting, and even then I think used for long periods it might rub, whereas this one is just perfect. That one will probably become a spare for Roxy.
Its got a very easy to snap together fitting to do up, and metal rings for the lead attachment. The rings for the lead on this are in the centre back of the dog, so easy to attach.
The lead has a metal hook, is a good length, with a very comfortable simple handle and made for the same wide, strong fabric as the harness making a smart set for larger dogs ( and smaller ones of course in the smaller sizes, but they tend to get more choice.)

My daughter’s dog Flash was the tester for this harness. Details are: male, lab x springer spaniel,  7 years old fully grown, neck 44cm, chest 79cm, length 72cm, weight 26kg. (57lb)
He usually wears a collar as its been difficult to find a harness that fits well, and in just a collar he tends to pull. This harness was strong and tough, but even on the largest setting only just fitted Flash. He also had another from the same seller which was also a size L but a much better fit. This one says for dogs 40-60lb, and the other which is still size L says 60 – 80 lbs. If your dog is close to 60lb I’d say try that one instead.
Its ASIN: B01KNZW3BK
Roxy has had a harness for a while, she’s younger and more boisterous and walks with hewr are hard. In a harness though its so much better, so we’re hoping for the same with Flash. Whether its just that the chest pressure confuses her or makes it hard to pull I don’t know but with a small tug she’s back walking at the side.

This smart harness comes in three sizes and six colours. Its made of a soft nylon rope webbing and nicely padded. The harness is a flat webbing while the lead is rolled with a padded handle.
It took me a while to find EVA online and see what it is, but its the soft rubber part of the handle.
It feels as though it will dry very quickly, useful if caught out in the rain when the smell of wet dog can last in a slow to dry collar such as the cotton or leather types.

The fit is very adjustable and Flash has the Large size, which fits him, but only at the upper end of adjustment. Its not a thick as the other harness either. Look at the weight restrictions and compare with your pet before buying, you may find the other suits better if you’ve a big dog.
It’ll be fine for smaller dogs and is a well made, attractive and smart set. Flash needed it on highest size setting though, and even then I think used for long periods it might rub, whereas the other one is just perfect. This one will probably become a spare for Roxy.
Its got a very easy to snap together fitting to do up, and metal rings for the lead attachment. The rings for the lead on this are in the centre back of the dog, so easy to attach.
The lead has a metal hook, is a good length, with a very comfortable EVA padded handle and made for the same strong fabric as the harness, but is rolled instead of flat. We’ve had other leads, collars and harnesses from this seller and they’ve all worn well.

Garden Solar Security Lights,

ZEEFO Garden Solar Light, 16Led Waterproof Wireless Security Light Solar Panel Powered Lights PIR Motion Sensor Night Light Landscape Bright Outdoor Wall Light Solar Security Lighting for Patio Deck Yard Driveway Fence Lamp

I love solar lights, and over the last few years they’ve become far better in variety, construction and reliability and value for money. This light can be fixed to a wall via the screw hole provided, or simply hung over a convenient hook. I’ve had several of these so far and all worked well so long as correctly position.

It’s triangular in shape and packs a real punch in terms of light delivered. The light is a clean, bright white. It’s on one side of the triangle with the charging surface on the other.  The unit needs to be placed facing south ideally. It charged even in just a few hours of our weak  UK daylight.Once charged just switch on and its ready. This one has an on/off button which I prefer to those that have a tiny hole and are activated when you press a metal pin in it.It has  two brightness settings, a dim light and a bright one when movement nearby is detected. It comes on as daylight light gets low as a dim light and then  goes to bright light mode when it senses movement nearby and stays on  for 30s after motion stops before reverting  to dim light to save energy.

I currently test all these lights in our conservatory. Stupidly it was summer when built and I didn’t think about lights, much needed when trekking through to downstairs loo….but it’s a great testing position for these lights. This was tested positioned on the windowsill with charger facing out and worked perfectly. It came on when someone entered room at full brightness, reverting back to dim after 30 seconds. I’ve been using several similar to this there now since 2015 in various place round my fark, very large garden, and they’re still working perfectly, coming on at night just as dusk falls.

Used outside and positioned to catch the sun these are perfect for dark areas or places with no mains electricity. If ever you get one that doesn’t work contact the seller – it happens. I had one recently that just didn’t come on, and seller replaced very promptly. Like everything some get damaged in transit and I’ve almost always found sellers very helpful.

Gernanery Colour-Changing LED Solar Powered Wind-lights Hummingbird Wind Chimes for Outdoor Garden Décor

Product Details

These are incredibly pretty, though calling them wind chimes is a bit of a misnomer, they don’t chime but are well worth the money as they are visually stunning.
If you want chimes you could try handing a few metal or wood tubes under the birds maybe, but for me these are just perfect as the are. I’ve other chimes to add sound.

The set comprises six pretty little humming birds on cords that hang from the central circular solar panel.
I’ve got mine tucked among my pots on the patio and hanging from a large metal hook.
The birds are made from a pretty, rigid, acrylic type material, looks like glass but less prone to shatter. With outdoor things that hang loosely like this and can get knocked that’s important.
I thought the birds would just rotate colours, with them all having the same at the same time. That’s not so, they do rotate colours but each changes individually, so they really look fabulous and are a genuine eye catcher in the dark of the night.

This set have the usual, a green wire with lights, attached to charger/battery, and a stake for placing charger into ground. The back has the off/on and a mode button to change from always on to flashing. I do find with these buttons its not easy to tell if working, and I don’t want to go trundling round the garden in the dark fiddling. What I usually do is take them under a table/into a cupboard, place something like a thick cloth against the front of the charger and they should light up, giving you a chance to see they work and to choose the mode.

The lights themselves are a set of pretty frosted white balls, which gives a clear cool toned light as soon as it gets dark, lasting well into the early hours at this time of year when the sun is strong. They also come in a warm white and a coloured option.
Winter I find they don’t last as long but still work for several hours, and its just cheering at night when i can’t sleep to peek out at them. Its very dark where I live, very rural, no nearby lights of any kind so they show up well.

They do need to be charged for 6 hours or more before first use, so don’t expect them to glow straight from the box, although sometimes they have a weak charge.
Look at where to place charger so it doesn’t get overshadowed by grass, plants or trees. I’ve found they also work inside if you place charger in a sunny windowsill.

They’re designed for outdoor use so perfect to just hang round garden and leave – that’s what I do. Eventually they all die off, but that’s true of everything, so long as they last a decent time I’m happy.
TONOR 4CH Remote Control RC Wall Climbing Climber Rocket Toy Car Racer Black

5 year old Brennan was be chief tester. He loves toy testing, takes his part in reviewing very seriously.
This is the second car like this, he’s still playing with the first one which we got back in
April this year.

The packaging was good, its in a card display box and the car and remotes held in with wire twists that were easy to undo. Finally we persuaded him to hand the car and remote over and help put in batteries – not supplied, you need six AA ones for the remote so check you have them when you order. Nothing is more frustrating for kids than having a new toy and no batteries!! Actually its frustrating for adults too 😉 Once the batteries were in he put it on the floor, used the remote and it was off, careering across kitchen floor madly, flashing lights and then being out into spins and reverse. When we actually got to read the manual – well, does anyone read it before playing? really? – I saw how to get it to go on walls. Sadly our walls are old, very rough and papered with a textured surface, and though it was fine in living room it wouldn’t work in dining room.

Our house is very old though and the walls very rough, hence the paper which is textured, so its not surprising the car wasn’t happy. It works by way of air+ the plastic sheet around the base. I can’t explain more but hopefully from photos you can work it out? Bren and his older brother and sister, and dad – me too – had fun with this, and he took it home where they’ve got nice newish plastered and painted walls where it works better. My ceilings are all textured so again we couldn’t try that but I don’t see why it won’t work.

The car feels very flimsy as its so light, but it felt off walls a few times and was fine so its more robust that appearance would suggest. You need to hold it on the wall to start, but as soon as it moves then its fine on its own. Its been great fun and for something relatively cheap I’m very impressed by it. Bren loves the lights too – adds to the all round fun effect. The first one (identical to this) is still going well despite frequent travelling from my hone to his – 35 miles away.

The car is charged by a USB cable but as with so many of these toys its got a different end, not the mini USB type, but one of those with a circle, so ensure you put it in a safe place. I wish these cables were all standard, it reminds me of the early mobile phone days when each had different chargers, and were a pain to charge, needing to have its own cable taken everywhere – now with them mostly standardised its so much easier. Come on manufacturers, do the same with kids toys please. We’ve so many where they’re useless as chargers been lost.
